While we were on holidays exploring Scandinavia (part 3 is to follow soon!) our little man Dalston, had a staycation at home. We missed him all the time but it was good to know he was in best company.
Our amazing friend and talented photographer Julianna aka J.K.Blackwell, helped looking after him. Instead of just taking him for a quick walk, she took him for regular adventures (including roadtrips in her vintage VW) , all professionally captured to tell the whole story. You can read it over at the twoguineapigs blog here. And as a big surprise we received all the beautiful images. For us as totally proud puppy parents we are so excited about all these beautiful photos.
Turned out he was a little cheeky while being home alone, but only in his usual charming way.
He has grown up so much, understanding so many words and he is constantly teaching himself new tricks and outsmarts us all but most importantly he makes us all laugh so much.
His latest one is switching off the heater in my office, when he decides that I have worked enough and that it is time to take him for a walk. No kidding.
He totally worked out the touch screen buttons on our heater...

Thank you again, J.K. Blackwell, you are amazing. And thank you Dalston for being such an awesome pup, brightening each and every day.

O M G... it's been way too long.
It's Winter over here in Sydney. It's suppose to be my off season at work...
And I think this little blog truly shows our life and therefore as well how both of us have been caught up in work way too much over the last six months.
We had hardly any time off together and this beloved little space ours in the internet has been neglected.
We yet have to share our Bali trip photos and what we have been up to in the meantime.
We just returned from a 3 week Scandinavia trip and visiting my family in Germany.
It was really inspiring seeing so many great things from design, to street style and family life.
These Scandinavians really have it worked out with their family policies and we saw one too many hip young Dads on paternity leave riding his bicycle with his gorgeous bub in tow.
It was a sweet reminder that there are other things in life besides work.
That time was much needed and recharged we promised ourselves to share all the great pics we took while traveling and to return to our blog.
We also really want to somehow manage to explore more together again and actually spend time together even with our work schedule.
We have been doing well getting back into exercise and meditation and are also really deep into our own wedding planning.
I love my job and yet I feel I have not spend enough time with my little family and the love of my life lately. Maybe it's time to say no every then and when and yes to our own life. I have really missed my amazing man and I want us to discover new ways to spend more time together and allowing our work to be more flexible.

It's so great to back home, we have truly missed our little Dalston! Glad that flea season is over too.
In summer we protect him with Frontline and similar as there are plenty of fleas and ticks around, unfortunately. For now in Winter he can run through the bushes more safely.

When we get a day off together and don't have plans, and especially on a sunny day, we love walking over to Paddington and have coffee and breakfast at our favourite little spot:
Tuk Tuk Street Bar! The people working there are just the friendliest and they really like dogs too.
Not to mention the fresh, healthy food, the yummy coffee and the great spot to sit and watch people go by.
Here are some snaps from last time. We thought it really deserves an own blog post.
It's the very small things that make my day, like a good coffee and sunshine and taking some time out of a busy week just to enjoy both. And to make it perfect it will have to be in good company.
David & Dalston you rock my world!

What else is new? Dalston comes with David to work in the design office from time to time, he graduated from puppy school this week and at home we made it super cozy with a new desk and couch... and new bed for Dalston too.
We can't wait to show you our new living room as soon as we are finished. It only took us one year and 4 weeks... Well. One step at a time, I guess.

I am super proud of Dave he is such a good puppy Dad! And Dalston? Well he learns super quick and we are deeply in love with him.

Dave had 2 weeks off work over the holidays and while I was still working on weddings over the weekends I tried to unplug and do no email work or blogging etc for the time being...
It felt very good to have so much time together.

Christmas day was just a rainy as last year, so we celebrated indoors at Dave's parents house with a nice big brunch! Dalston was super sleepy and slept in crate almost the whole day.
As a new dog mum I got pyjamas with puppies and "must love dogs" writing: I wear them when taking Dalston out at night time. I think we didn't even take any pictures this year, we were just too bugged.  We also got a fantastic pop maker, and we are already trying out all different kinds of delicious homemade fruit juice & froyo pop's! At the end of the night Dalston fell ill, he got a stomach bug and kept us awake for the next few nights as he had to constantly go potty...
No fun for any of us. We were zombied out without sleep!
By now he is absolutely fine again.

Boxing Day was amazing, we had the most relaxed picnic with everyone at Nelsons Park.
The sun was out and it changed everything.
Just what we needed. David played soccer with strangers, Alex & Adrian climbed trees,
our little nephew chased birds and I was just hanging out getting some rest and enjoying the sun.

Christmas in Summer is def weird for me but it is very nice too! I don't think I will ever get used to it, but that's ok.

We might be slight biased but I think we got a super pup!
The last week has been so much fun, hanging out with this little guy.
Of course it takes tremendous energy to look after and train and puppy, they need constant super vision and are learning all the time, so we are in charge of making sure he learns the right stuff.

While being busy with work I made Dalston the main priority and for now I have to arrange things around him.  He sits, comes and lies down on command, which is awesome, I could teach him stuff all day and night, he is so much fun.
It's really hot here at the moment and I can't wait to take the little guy to the beach soon.
He is meeting new people everyday and loves it too.
His latest friend is the very awesome pet photographer Julianna from Two Guineapigs.
I have met her on a photo-shoot we both worked on a little while ago and last week we finally met up again. Of course she brought her pro camera, and snapped the great photos of Dalston that I have posted here. She is a true artist and captures real portraits of pets, not your average "shopping-center-style" pet photos. Check her out! If you are in Sydney and have a pet, book her in ;)

From next week we are on a little holiday and the puppy pre-school starts. So exciting.
I am still booked with weddings during my "holiday" but have the days during the week entirely off,
to hang out with Dave & Dalston. I can't wait, we have lot's planned, including some family photo sessions.

Puppies grow up way to fast, so we will try our best to capture this precious time.
On popular demand Dalston now also has his own Instagram account,  I gave in after friends begged me to open up his very own Instagram. It also helps to not puppy spamming my own account and followers so much, although I bet most people don't mind : ) Feel free to follow him, if you enjoy endless puppy pictures.

Dalston is home. And he is totally awesome!

He wanted to come with us straight away when he picked him up, he loved the car ride home and was peeking out of the window the whole time.
At home he wasn't shy for a minute and simply loved his cozy crate&bed and all his toys.
He slept really well too, no whining or anything and he woke us up when he needed to go potty.
Yep, so I don't get that much sleep these days but it's well worth it and we haven't had any accidents either. I mean, that's really something for a 8 week old puppy.

On his second day home he already knows his name, comes when called and sits.
He is a little genius. Can you tell I am totally in love? One proud mommy, I guess....
So my social media of course turned into a puppy spam already and I enjoy every minute of hanging out with this little guy.
I am really proud of David too, who did a big deal of reading up on puppy education and he is doing amazing.
Dalston also responds to both of us, which is wonderful.
And he is very adventurous and likes meeting & greeting all sorts of people of all ages and dogs.
No noise or anything has managed to scare him yet, he's just being one happy chap!
Fingers crossed he will keep this attitude.
I thought I just post a little update, all pictures are iphone only snaps, but we will be back with some "real" photos soon.
