Salt Water Lakes + Road Trips

This little road trip was the highlight of our holiday, though I loved every single day, this was very special. We rented a little car on the island Mljet and went for a road trip to the other side,
where the incredible national park is located with it's crystal clear salt water lakes.
The curvy road along the cost had the most amazing views.
It felt so good being in the water, and to see this untouched nature.
The sun was burning down, and I felt how it charged me up.
The whole trip we were completely unplugged from our phones and internet too.

Just focusing on the basics and being away from it all. A little paradise.

    Looks like it was an incredible trip, and I love this little road trip you took--those always seem to be the most memorable. renting a car in unfamiliar territory and having a adventure lie ahead. I love that! We rented a car when we were in Crete, can you believe that?! But so many memories!!!
    Fab pics , I've got to learn to tie my scarves like that;)

    @Ginanorma: The scarf was just one long rectangular piece I basically just wrapped it all around and tied it into a bow to the side. It was mainly sun-protection, more practical then a floppy had when, climbing around the forest ; )

    Oh liv.. (and Dave!!) :) .. I could honestly get lost in your photos for hours. Everything about them has such a whimsical and almost old feel to them, like I'm looking at photos from another era - it could have something to do with your a.m.a.z.i.n.g bathers + gorgeous head wear too! I think the best days are road trips to places unknown when you're holidaying. That water looks divine.

    @Anna - Interesting that you mention 'another era'. Croatia, especially the island, all seemed slightly retro. Everything from the cars, houses, roads all felt like we had shifted back a few decades. I think that colors played a huge part in this feeling. All the colors were quite very vibrant but somewhat burnt it.

    It really is a special place, one I think we will visit again

    I am pretty sure I have been here. Close to ten years ago when I was travelling through Europe with some friends. Croatia has a beautiful simplicity about it that you have captured so well. If only it weren't so far away from. Australia I would be back there in a heartbeat. X Laura
