Serious comfort food recipe and happy planning
22:14Two months in London before we are going to move to the other end of the world!
Confusion moved into our house, while we are preparing to move out.
We organized shipping to get our belongings all the way to our future home.
We did a spontaneous ikea shop, after we figured out the prices in Australia are 2.5(!!)higher than here.
We got our plane tickets. One way. We are nervous. We have got butterflies in our bellies.
Looking at real estate apps on the phone before bed, has become a mild addiction.
Where will we live?
We have been loosing sleep over updating our work portfolios and preparing applications.
Decluttering is the next step. We keep to our routine for now.
Daily Porridge & coffees in bed for breakfast do their part.
We need hugs and some serious comfort food!
Livs+Dave's Easy Peasy Comfort food:
It's basically a pasta with cream sauce dish, that we made up.
It takes only 10min and is super easy:
You will need for 2 portions:
250g Pasta of choice: (Spaghetti, Linguine, Penne all work fine)
1 big red onion
2 cloves of garlic
2-3 vegetarian sausages (our fav here in the UK are Cauldron)
150g mushrooms
1-2 small zucchini
1 pot of soya cream
nutmeg, vegetable stock & pepper to taste
olive oil
1.Boil your favorite pasta, according to the instructions, al dente.
while it's cooking prepare the sauce:
2. Chop a red onion and 2 cloves of garlic
3. Heat a medium size pan with a tablespoon of olive oil
4. Fry onion and garlic, for a few minutes then add slices of sausages,
mushrooms (optional) and zucchini (or spinach) fry for about 5 min on medium heat.
5. Lower the heat and add, a tablespoon of organic vegetable stock, a little nutmeg and black pepper
6. Add the soy cream, stir.
Guten Appetit! Enjoy!
Do you have a favorite comfort food? What makes you feel good, when you need it the most?

It's probably enough for another post, there are so many little reasons. We have both lived in many different places and we felt London would only be temporary too.
DeleteWe are both foreigners here in London and don't have family around.
We love our live and jobs here, but are looking for a place to stay...
That pasta looks so good! Yum :)

We are moving to Sydney. Excited to see different places and travel around though. We love Melbourne and will for sure visit it often.
DeleteYum! That pasta looks perfect for when it gets colder and all I want is to hang out at home in my jammies ...
ReplyDeleteWhat's in your green juice? A kale-banana-blueberry juice that I make with my blender has oddly been my comfort food of late, and I'm looking for more greens-filled recipes!
The green juice/smoothie is Mr. Whiz:
DeleteYogi Bhajan, master of Kundalini Yoga, recommended this breakfast as the most beneficial for women. It’s called Ms. Whiz.
8oz of fresh squeezed orange juice
1 banana
1 tbs of chlorophyll(spirulina algae or wheatgrass etc)
2 tsp of cold pressed sesame oil or almond oil.
2 tsp of Rice bran syrup or maple syrup
Yum!
Oh yum! Looks like I'm gonna have to stock up on the wheatgrass. Green shakes for breakfast are such a good way to start the day!
DeleteMmmmmm. Now that is serious comfort food! I love pasta!
ReplyDeleteHow CrAzY to move to another continent... I can just imagine what a challenge that is.
Isn't moving crazy??? Everything in here is so expensive that I wish I would've done more shopping before coming here... When are you moving?
ReplyDeleteMoving is crazy. But always great to de-clutter, too.
DeleteWe are flying out on the 1st of November. 2 more months.
Yes it's better to stock up ; )
so excited! i've never shipped anything here? is it crazy expensive? and is ikea really 2.5 times more expensive here? goodness, you just get so used to the crazy prices :)
ReplyDeleteit is indeed! we stocked up on a few basics and are still writing a list, what to else to get...clothes, make up etc.
DeleteI can't imagine how i'll feel if I had to move..Good luck to you guys! Lovely photos & the pasta looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteMoving can be stressful, good luck with it all. The comfort food looks amazing. Yum. At least you will be leaving the UK when it gets cold and arriving in Australia in spring. x
ReplyDeleteSo true! We are actually skipping winter this year, very exciting.
Deleteooooooh sounds a bit scary indeed! But I'm sure everything will turn out fine :D When I need comfort I watch Gilmore Girls! hahah I don't really know why.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is adorable! The pasta looks so yummy, good luck with the move :)
ReplyDeleteCarmen Ri.

Oh yum, that pasta looks amazing, something high in carbs is always good for comfort food! Good luck with your move, and try not to stress too much :) I used to work in a very large company's head office in Sydney and there were lots and lots of UK expats that worked there - to the point that we used to joke about it! You will be in high demand, don't worry :)
ReplyDeleteSo excited for you Liv! You will love Sydney, don't worry. Weather has been beautiful for the last few weeks - good enough to get the swimsuit on and hit the beach - and it's only the first month of spring. Have you settled on a suburb yet?
ReplyDeleteWe haven't we will see where we will find something suitable.
DeleteLooking around the inner west, but anywhere by the beach would also be great...
Where do you live?
I live in Clontarf which is on the lower northern beaches, near Manly. Close enough to the city but with the northern beaches lifestyle. And plenty of UK expats in Manly!!!
DeleteOh and definitely stock up on everything you can before you get here because its ridiculously expensive in Australia. I have an English housemate and he loves to remind me about how cheap everything is in the UK all the time!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment! You are a star!
